2nd Grade Weather Blows in a Freebie!

We are finishing up our weather unit this month in 2nd grade.  Today my class participated in a weather experiment about air moving matter.  Take a look at the picture below to see just how much fun it really was!

I like to call this experiemnt On Your Mark, Get Set, BLOW!  It is pretty basic but it combines science skills, math skills, and writing skills.  Each student recieves a straw and a cotton ball.  The cotton ball is their "CLOUD."  They must blow in their straw using different strenghts and see how far their cloud travels.  Each student measures in inches the distance their cloud travels.  They record their data and then compare to find out which strenght moved their cloud the farthest.  The students also wrote about their data and drew a diaram to show the steps it took to complete this experiment.
